Hoceima La fourth edition of the festival Mediterranean Al Hoceima was opened on Monday with the main theme of "development".

Organised at the initiative of the association "Rif for Solidarity and Development" in collaboration with the wilaya of the region of Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate, the municipality of Al Hoceima and the Agency for the development of provinces North, this event will continue until 04 August.

At the opening ceremony, the groups "Taghrast" and "Jalal Chakara" occurred on the Place Mohammed VI of the city and have rocked the rhythm of the songs Arab and Spanish.

The programme of this artistic event that will also take place in the communes of Targuist, Imzourne, Beni Bouayach and Ait Kamara in the province of Al Hoceima, includes sports activities, racing motorcycles, a beach football tournament, racing swimming, cultural activities (symposium on the Union for the Mediterranean) and exhibitions of crafts, fine arts and books.

In an address on this occasion, the chairman of the festival, Mr. Ilias El Omari, said that for eight days, the city will rendezvous with artistic groups from Algeria, Lebanon, Spain, France and the Netherlands.

The theme of this event, he said, confirms that the prospects of development have no limits and it is time to combine the efforts of all officials and civil society to encourage partnership in all productive sectors, especially in the economic, social and cultural development.

For its part, the president of the association "Rif for Solidarity and Development", Mr. Ahmed Ben Thami, stressed that the association has sought since the first edition of the festival's Mediterranean city of Al Hoceima ( 2005), to develop this meeting in order to meet public expectations, adding that the festival conveys values of dialogue, citizenship, pluralism, diversity and respect for difference.
Took part in the opening of the festival wali of the region of Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate, Mr. Mohamed Mhidia, heads of the external services of the province, representatives of civil society and several elected officials and civil dignitaries and military.
