The Tourist Guide Of Agadir
The City of the flourish and the relaxed rhythm of life, sheltering in an exceptional site one of the most beautiful bays of the world, enjoying a climate eternally moderate, benefiting from an excellent hotel equipment, Agadir promises you an ideal stay all the year round. Sea resort par excellence, it is also the prelude to all your discoveries, the visit of the back - country rich in curiosities until the adventure of the Big South.
Certainly one of the biggest challenges of Morocco recently independent: the reconstruction of a town completely destroyed by an earthquake in February, 1960. The will and the determination of young King, Hassan II, inaugurated for only a year, was going to give concrete expression to the wish and to the hope of a whole people by making be reborn Agadir of his ashes.

Henceforth, it is the new and modern city by its hotel equipment, its wide avenues, the flowery gardens, the magnificent port and its extraordinary airport but also, and especially, its magnificent bay that stretches on Six km, between the nice-smelling wind of pines, eucalyptus and tamarisks. The balnéaire reputation of Agadir is established well and is known worldwide

Of a road in ledge in the side of the hill, the old woman Kasbah of the XVI-th century the area azure of the ocean dominates, the green valleys of Grand Souss and the majestic massifs of Anti-Atlas. First fishing port of the Realm, Agadir is also its very first hâvre of relaxation and everything gets organized there around the comfort of the guests.

Brightened up all year round, the city proposes sail, wind surfing, equitation, tennis, golf, sand yacht and ball-trap to the sporting amateurs, whereas the most quiet can sample fresh(cool) fruit cocktails in the shade of eucalyptus. Perched between the mountainous regions of Anti-Atlas and the western extremity of the Height - atlas, Agadir is the point of departure of magnificent excursions.
The new city, allying modernity and simplicity, was built more in the South to spread the dangers of a new earthquake. Districts, separated by green spaces, are connected by wide avenues. Among the beautiful contemporary realizations represent the post office, a building marrying the concrete and the wood of cedar, the court, to the very elegant style, the elementary school of the avenue des Forces-Armées-Royales and the barracks of fire brigades with its impressive tower of training. THE MUSEUM. It was created in 1992 in the surrounding wall of the municipal theater. Dedicated to the arts and the popular traditions of the valley of Under and Saharan regions, it presents a part of the collection of the house Tiskiwin in Marrakesh: suits, jewels, carpets, furniture, musical instruments and tools, collected by the historian of art of Dutch origin, Bert Flint, installed in Morocco since 1957.

To visit :
The ancient kasbah

Situated at the top of a hill - in 236 m - the site of the ancient kasbah offers a magnificent sight on the bay of Agadir. It is in 1540, to protect itself from attacks of the Portugueses, that Mohammed ech Sheik made build in this place a powerful fortress. Two centuries later, Moulay Abdallah dreading a new Portuguese invasion installed there a garrison of 2 000 men. Regrettably, the city was completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1960. Of this ancient citadel, only remain the partially reconstructed ramparts, and the front door where one can read a registration in Dutch - " Am afraid of God and respects king " - which reminds that Netherlands had in the XVII-th century a counter in Agadir.

Immouzer des ida Outaname

The route which leads to Immouzer is charming. Dry hills, green valleys, gorges and trays, make forget an often uncomfortable road. Nested at feet of the Height - atlas in 1 250 m of height, the small white houses of Immouzer dominate a beautiful palm plantation. In 4 km from there, a waterfall, nicknamed " the veil of the bride " because of its walls cleared by the limestone, has interest only in the rainy season. On the political plan, Immouzer is the "capital" of a confederacy of Berber tribes, the Ida Outanane, which until 1927 lived outside the central power. Walked on Thursdays.
Taroudant

Being situated in the intersection of the valley of Souss and mountains of the Height - atlas, " small Marrakesh " gives an excellent outline of the Moroccan South. First capital of Saadiens in the XVI-th century, refuge of the rebel princes, desired by the tribes of the South, Taroudannt holds an important place in the history of Morocco. Nowadays, personalities come to look for the rest in the shade of its magnificent ochre ramparts. Also considered as its craft and its Berber jewels, it attracts numerous tourists come from Agadir (destination very well served by buses).
Tafraoute

Best is to include Tiznit in the route of this excursion. One crosses then a pleasant agricultural landscape before arriving at Tafraoute, capital of Ammeln. Famous for the business acumen, this tribe chleuh speak about the dialect and lives mainly on the culture of the barley and the amandier. If Tafraoute's small village presents only not enough interest, on the other hand its decoration is one of the most surprising of Morocco: everywhere one can admire the blazing reflections of the mountains of pink granite of the Anti-Atlas. In February, amandiers in flowers adds still to the beauty of the site. Tafraoute is also a very good point of departure for an excursion in mountains and Berber villages surrounding.
