French tourism market is A priority for Morocco
The French tourism market is "a priority" for Morocco in view of its importance, said Wednesday in Paris, Mohamed Boussaid, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts.
In a statement to the MAP on the sidelines of the 30th edition of the Exhibition of Industry, Tourism and Travel "Top Resa" Mr Boussaid noted that France is the leading issuer of tourists to the Kingdom and that its market represents about 35% of arrivals, noting that Morocco is making "good performance" in this market insofar as its penetration rate is around 7%. It was in this context, pointed out that the Kingdom has received in 2007 some 1,800,000 French tourists on the 24 million French people traveling abroad, which is "enormous," he adds.Make Moroccan friends
After recalling that Morocco is the first destination outside Europe of French tourists, Mr. Boussaid noted that "our success in this market is linked to several factors including the proximity and cultural and historical considerations. "For us it a priority to maintain our market share. To do this, we will first rely on diversification of product" Morocco ", he said, stressing that Marrakesh and Agadir realize today, hui of "excellent scores".

In this context, Mr Boussaid expressed confidence that Morocco would maintain its shares on the "priority market", noting that arrivals from France grew by 8% from 1 January to 31 July

"This increase will further consolidate," he added, indicating that the contacts undertaken with the main TO and large travel agencies at the "Top Resa" suggest "a good winter season." The minister made clear that the strong participation of Moroccan professionals in this Salon is "the ambitions we have for this market."
The Kingdom is represented in "Top Resa" (16 - 19 September) by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO), the regional tourism councils Marrakesh, Rabat, Fez, Meknes, Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir and Essaouira
