Journey to Morocco during Ramadan
I make a trip to Morocco from 6 to 24 October 2008 (Marrakech, an oasis in the south and essaouira), I travel for the young of Ramadan I read that during this period of hotels and restaurants are closed, that 'there is less public transport and that was the end of Ramadan the country is idle for three days, can you give me additional information on this period when you travel routard thank you in advance

I did an article about that in my blog "tourism during Ramandan."
Surely things will be different, especially in the South, but not necessarily unpleasant, if you know your t'organiser and make provisions for the day.
And traveling to rotuard, you have more chance of being invited to share the evening.
Be particularly careful when breaking the fast ..... very naturally people would think that eating more .... this is the time chosen by the malandrins and other thugs to act with calm!
in my case, it took a short walk around the menara of marrakesh so the car is visited ....

If I may say so I'm Moroccan, a practicing Muslim, I live in France and regularly make long séjous Morocco to share my work and I can simply tell you without language of wood or politically correct that for the vast majority of Moroccans ( 85%) tourists is a "cash cow". He detailed completely before you eat them during Ramadan insofar as you are not Muslims and take it as an insult that you were trying to imitate or you pose their questions "heavy" in this regard.
Nobody will serve you with good grace during the day except your guide because it is paid for it .... you are accused .... and most people rappeleront only that they must serve non-Muslims during a period of abstinence. Uncertain. Make Moroccan friends
The mentality "Mulsuman very engaged" is exacerbated during this period because everyone wants to show everyone how good he is a believer (what a joke !!!). Basically it would make their offense that suggest that this practice fasting is difficult or painful to bear because we eat before them. Precisely this is more difficult the better.
If you still want to leave at this time, you behave as usual and remember that you are tourists from visiting a country, you pay for it. You're on your holiday people with a social level, open-minded and study very variable. It is therefore unnecessary to worry, go and enjoy this country and do not worry about traditions and customs of the people. The main thing is to be respectful you have to prove coming on this site.
I am not Moroccan, but I am married to a Moroccan friends. I am not Muslim, but I am married to a Muslim. I live half my time in Morocco. My husband has a travel agency.
I can assure you that we do not want tourists for "cash cows" but for people who actually pay for a service - it is normal - and to whom we are trying to discover the country in the best possible conditions. And very often giving them more than what they paid, on paper. Make Moroccan friends
My husband actually little concerned that I eat in front of him, because this is not the deprivation of food that the discomfort. But if I smoked a cigarette in front of him, there would be very difficult. Each has its own weaknesses, I know guides sesauvent as soon as they brought their customer at the restaurant, others who may even go shopping for them. Some have more trouble with the deprivation of drink, especially when they accompany trekkers in the desert.
As to take as an insult that I possibly seeking to emulate .... here I am extremely surprised:) is quite the opposite, you are identified. I never speaks the first of Ramadan, whether as our guides, or the other Moroccan. But the question always comes naturally "and you do Ramadan? No, you should, try at least one day." And it is I who answer "no, it's religious, this is not my religion, I will not pretend, and that is an argument that is not always understood.
Questions heavy? What is a question heavy on Ramadan? When I ask questions, I keep getting detailed answers, and the person in front of me was rather fun to talk about religion, trying to convince me of his perfection. No, from the moment we respect people (ie that does not pose a question like "What is this bullshit of Ramadan"), people are quite happy to oarler, and share, including the rupture of the young with someone who does Ramadan. Excuse me but what part of Morocco tell you?
I lived Ramadan as a tourist, I've lived in Moroccan woman, I've lived in organizing circuits, and I never felt that.
The only problem that may occur during Ramadan is linked to alcohol consumption. Morocco has never been a country populated only by Muslims, Muslims have always been accustomed to rub non-Muslims who were not Ramadan, and it has never been a problem.
Serve someone for a period of abstinence that happens every day, even Muslims (the sick, pregnant women ...) women are cooking 2 or 3 hours before breaking the fast.
And most of Moroccans are also realistic enough to be content with having to serve non-Muslims in the day and earn a salary that pays the harira and leben evening. Since this is not haram to prepare food and serve others during the early period (again, is different from alcohol).
Open-mindedness, education and social level are three things very independent in all countries as Morocco.
I am surprised at the negative content of your message, but I begin to have a habit that those most critical to the Moroccan fairly in other Moroccan.
The tourist is in all countries, a source of income, neither more nor less in Morocco and elsewhere. In all countries, it is with guides, waiters, etc.. an exchange service that does not respect the other and go a little beyond the simple transaction, to discover a little more and wonder. Morocco is at once a very tolerant compared to the rest of the Muslim world, and with a faith very simple and very deeply rooted, particularly in the south.
I am not a Moroccan expatriates in Australia I am only the director of an association of literacy and assistance to children in Tiznit seat in the suburbs of Agadir. I spend almost 8 months a year in my country for almost 11 years. Go on the Internet you will have no trouble to find me.

Most MRE do of their country as their milieu, their families and bled, like most of Moroccans living on the spot by the way.
They have no idea aspirations of tourists, in any case much less than some of us who live in the interior.
In the end, it does nothing changes for me that I am not a tourist over there so I know what I have to do. I am not on this site to find out who rightly or wrongly, and believe me I prefer to be wrong. My country still needs a lot of time.
